Doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov assessed the data on the increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus in Russia.
The Russian specialist told Podyem that the increase in the number of cases speaks only of a large number of tests performed. The main thing, according to Myasnikov, is “to know how many seriously ill patients, how many people are in intensive care and how many have died - these are the data that indicate the degree of danger of the coronavirus.”
Dr. Myasnikov also expressed the opinion that it will take two to three years to form herd immunity in Russia, but COVID-19 will not disappear and will return in a mild form.
Earlier it was reported that the number of detected cases of COVID-19 increased again in Russia. According to the headquarters, 5,504 cases of coronavirus were detected in the Russian Federation over the past day, the total number of cases increased to 1,051,874. New cases were recorded in 85 regions of the country, the growth rate is 0.5%.
In turn, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian healthcare system "absolutely uniquely" will cope with a possible exacerbation of the situation with COVID-19.
