The alliance views the Transnistrian region as a potential theater of military operations
“At the end of last month, the Republic of Moldova received a delegation of the American military department, whose visit was largely timed to coincide with the joint exercises of the national army and US special operations soldiers at the Bulboaca training ground near the border with Transnistria. The exercises began on March 23, the participants conducted joint firing, landing, demonstrated the coherence of actions in the field, “
– reports the newspaper “Moldavskie vedomosti”.
The publication notes that in Moldova itself there is no consensus on the holding of joint military exercises with NATO countries on the territory of the country. Some of the citizens of Moldova are sure that such events contradict the neutral status declared in the constitution and may lead to irreversible consequences in the future. Others believe that it is quite possible, while maintaining a non-aligned status, to receive all sorts of preferences from the West. Still others insist on the country’s early entry into the ranks of the alliance.
The author of the article Alexander Medvedev examines the specific target of the United States in the last March exercise JCET 2021 (Joint Blended Learning Exchange)…
First of all, the author specifies, JCET – This is not exactly an exercise, this is a program of the American military department for training elite units of foreign countries. In recent years, US instructors have conducted similar exercises, which are better called training, for various third world countries: Yemen, Mozambique, Chad, Niger, Algeria, Mauritania, Senegal, for the Balkan countries.
In 2018 and 2019, US commandos conducted a total of 278 missions. JCET in 68 countries. According to official data from the US military department, more than 4,800 overseas military personnel and almost 32,000 foreigners took part in them, Moldavskie vedomosti writes, noting that no one is hiding the priority goals of this program. And the main goal of the program JCET, which is openly spoken about, is the training of the alliance forces at the training grounds of those countries where they may have to participate in hostilities. The training of the local military is just an excuse for such training.
Thus, the United States actually admits that they are considering the possibility of using their special forces in the Moldovan-Transnistrian region! And the commander SOCOM (US Special Operations) General Richard Clarke back in 2019, he directly stated that the program JCET will be key to supporting U.S. and allied military forces in a potential conflict with Russia or China.
Alexander Medvedev reminds that it is not the first time that the Americans have been practicing their actions in case of a possible escalation of the situation in Transnistria.
“The enemy’s military is a militia backed by a large, well-funded country trying to expand its influence.”
– the publication quotes the frank statement of the captain of the US Army Michael Lapadot, intelligence officer of the 173rd Airborne Brigade of the US Armed Forces following the exercise, which he did in an interview, said in an interview Stars and stripes…
“Conclusions suggest themselves and do not cause optimism. The fact that Moldova for Western politicians and the military has long been on the same level with the poor African countries, for which the JCET program is designed, no longer surprises anyone. But the decisions of the US command to consider the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian region as a potential theater of military operations, and the national army as a force to fight with Russia is really frightening, because not so long ago, no one considered Ukraine as a hotbed of instability, ”
