Murashko: the vaccine “Kovivac” has shown effectiveness in the course of research

Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko, in an interview with reporters, gave his assessment of the new vaccine against COVID-19 “Kovivac”

“In clinical trials on volunteers, the vaccine has shown safety and efficacy. Its large-scale research will continue at the post-registration stage, “TASS reports.

The minister recalled that the new vaccine was created using classical technology and contains an inactivated virus. He also stressed that now in the arsenal of the Russian Federation there are three vaccine preparations, which will “effectively control the infection, providing reliable protection for our citizens.”

Recall that the third vaccine against COVID-19, developed by the Chumakov Center, was registered in Russia on Saturday, February 20. Already in mid-March, the first 120 thousand doses of the KoviVac vaccine are planned to be launched into civil circulation. As Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin noted, at the moment the Russian Federation is the only state on the planet where there are three vaccines against COVID-19 at once.

Earlier it was reported that by the end of the first half of 2021, Russia plans to produce 88 million sets of vaccine doses for coronavirus, excluding the Kovivac registered today. At the same time, 83 million dose sets are accounted for by Sputnik V, 5.4 million dose sets – at Epivacccoron.
