In connection with the events in Belarus and the incident with the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, the decision to abandon the Nord Stream 2 project should be obvious to the German authorities. This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Given the recent events in Belarus, where Putin is clearly threatening to intervene, and what he has done with Navalny, this should be the last "wake-up call" for Germany., - said the head of the Polish Cabinet of Ministers in an interview with Bloomberg TV.

He added that the project is political and destabilizing for Eastern Europe. In this regard, Warsaw is trying to increase pressure on Berlin in order to stop the construction of the gas pipeline. Moravetsky expressed the hope that German politicians will eventually change their position on Nord Stream 2.

As previously wrote, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the decision on the joint venture-2 due to the situation with Navalny will become European, not German. She stressed that Berlin must act as a member of the EU.

The oppositionist became ill during the flight from Tomsk to Moscow. His associates suspected deliberate poisoning. Russian doctors found no poisons in Navalny's body, but their German colleagues from the Charité clinic, where the oppositionist was placed, believe that he was nevertheless poisoned with a substance from a group codenamed Novichok.
