When assembling various crafts, it is often required to make various small parts from wood on a lathe. Turning to a turner every time is not an option, so you can make your own simple machine for small things. It will be just a godsend if special accuracy is not required during work.
- broken grinder;
- wide board;
- hairpin М14;
- nut М14;
- washer М14;
- self-tapping screws.
Mini Lathe Making Process
It is necessary to dismantle the grinder gearbox and clamp its shaft into the drill.
Then, having ensured its rotation due to it, it is required to grind the spindle under the cone on emery.
After that, the gearbox is screwed to the board, which will serve as the sole of the machine.
Next, you need to grind a piece of M14 studs under the cone. Then the halves of a nut cut in half are screwed onto it, and a washer is clamped between them.
The washer is divided into 6 sectors and cut to nuts. Then each of them is turned inside out to get a kind of impeller. After that, the part is clamped in the drill chuck.
A two-piece clamp is cut out of a board or rail for attaching a drill.
It needs to be drilled and cut in the sole for the holes made. This will allow you to clamp the drill with a clamp and move it along the sole, changing the distance to the gearbox axis.
Legs are nailed to the bottom of the machine.
To clamp a part in the machine, it is necessary to spread it between the points and clamp the clamp. The wrapped washer will prevent the workpiece from slipping on the thin axis. After that, guided by the dimensions of the blank, and the available cutting tools, the stop from the rail is screwed to the sole.
After starting the drill, the part is machined as on a conventional lathe.
