Military transport aviation continues the transfer of peacekeepers to Kazakhstan

The main forces of the Russian peacekeepers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization are preparing to fly to Kazakhstan, the Russian Defense Ministry reports.

It is specified that flights to the republic will be carried out from airfields in the Moscow, Ivanovo and Ulyanovsk regions.

“At present, the Airborne Forces are loading standard equipment and weapons on military transport aircraft,” the message says.

The ministry stressed that the Russian peacekeepers who had previously arrived in Kazakhstan began to fulfill the assigned tasks and ensure the reception and deployment of the main forces of the peacekeeping contingent.

Against the background of protests in Kazakhstan, the president of the republic, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, asked for help from the CSTO partners. On January 6, the first units from the main forces of the Russian contingent of the organization’s peacekeeping forces arrived in the republic.
