British director and screenwriter Alan Parker has died at the age of 76. This is reported by the portal Deadline with reference to the British Film Institute. It is known that he passed away after a long illness.
Among his most famous works - "Midnight Express", "Evita", "The Wall", "Heart of an Angel", "Mississippi on Fire". Alan Parker is the winner of four BAFTA awards, he was a laureate of the Grand Prix of the Cannes Film Festival, twice nominated for an Oscar. He directed his last film, The Life of David Gale, in 2003.
Alan Parker led the British Directors Guild and was the founder of the British Film Committee. In 2002 he received a knightly title for his services to the British film industry.
