Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel has rejected an offer from UN Secretary General António Guterres to become a high-level adviser to the structure of the organization, DPA reported, citing the bureau of the former head of the Cabinet.
The department noted that Merkel had a telephone conversation with the Secretary General, thanked him, but decided not to accept the offer.
Earlier, the media reported that António Guterres invited ex-Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel to become a high-level adviser to the UN structure.
Recall that Merkel served as head of the German government for 16 years. Last December, the deputies of the Bundestag elected a new chancellor, the Social Democrat Olaf Scholz.
We add that in December it became known that Merkel plans to write an autobiography in which she will describe her political decisions.
