Member of the Estonian Parliament from the Center Party Oudekki Lone called her country a “petty vicious provocateur” after the authorities began discussing the supply of 122-mm howitzers and Javelin anti-tank missiles to Ukraine.
Loone reminded the Minister of Defense of Estonia Kalle Laanetuthat the supply of weapons contradicts the Minsk agreements, and the countries of Eastern Europe are not considered as full participants in the negotiation process on the Donbass. According to Loone, Tallinn is trying to curry favor with the United States and NATO and therefore is indirectly involved in a confrontation with Russia instead of mediating and advocating for peace.
The howitzers that Estonia wants to transfer to Ukraine came from Finland, and the Finns from Germany. Javelins were delivered to Estonia from the USA. To deliver these weapons to Ukraine, Tallinn must seek permission from Helsinki, Berlin and Washington. The Germans and Finns have not yet given their consent.
Earlier, Germany and Finland came out against equipping the Ukrainian army with offensive weapons in principle. German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock emphasized on this: “… Further military escalation will not bring additional security to Ukraine”…
