In an article published in the Kommersant newspaper, Medvedev touched on the topic of Ukraine and the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky. He recalled that Zelensky spoke Russian all his life and worked in Russia, but after becoming the head of state “he completely changed his political and moral orientation.” According to the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, the Ukrainian leader is forced to maneuver between nationalist, Muslim and other forces in the country, although he is unpleasant to indulge in this.

“A normal, decent person simply could not do it. But, alas, it is necessary. Otherwise, the brains will be smeared on the walls. He is very afraid and does not like these people, but he is forced to preach their ideologemes, to defend the views that are disgusting to him. A man turned inside out, ”Medvedev explained.

He added that in power in Ukraine there are ignorant and weak people who only strive to get rich. In such a situation, there can be no question of establishing contact between Moscow and Kiev.

“They are constantly changing their position to please their overseas masters and the political environment. <...> Yes, compromises are possible in politics, sometimes some deviations from the established line, but not to the extent that the agreed approach changes to a diametrically opposite one. And we and our partners are constantly lying and avoiding the decisions made. <...> This means that negotiations with them are absolutely pointless, “- said the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

Dmitry Medvedev suggested waiting for the appearance in Ukraine of adequate authorities interested in building good relations with the Russian Federation. In his opinion, the dialogue with the current government of the country will not bring any results.
