Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy head of the Russian Security Council, believes that Ukraine’s extrajudicial sanctions against opposition politician Viktor Medvedchuk are comparable to the decisions of the NKVD troikas during the years of terror, TASS reports.
According to Medvedev, Kiev imposed restrictions on its own citizens without investigation and trial, which has not been done since the days of the NKVD troikas. The Russian politician expressed surprise that this is possible today, in the 21st century.
According to the deputy head of the RF Security Council, the Ukrainian authorities are trying to divert attention from their failures. Medvedev notes that this will not save the rating of the head of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, from collapsing.
Earlier, the leader of the “Opposition Platform For Life”, deputy of the Rada Viktor Medvedchuk commented on the sanctions that the Security Council of Ukraine introduced against him and his wife. The politician considers the restrictions imposed as illegal and emphasizes that they can only be applied by a court decision.
