German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expects to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in January to discuss issues of bilateral relations, Bild newspaper writes.
The authors of the article argue that Scholz is striving for a “new beginning” in relations with Moscow, therefore he intends to take the issue of building German-Russian ties under his personal control.
It is noted that this will affect, first of all, gas relations and the Ukrainian issue.
Recall that in December last year, Russian leader Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with the new German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. It is known that during the conversation, the parties expressed interest in further developing bilateral relations and maintaining contacts through various channels.
