Mass vaccination of the population against coronavirus has started in Mongolia today. The first to take root in the country was the head of government, Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene, reports the MONTSAME agency.
All citizens from 16-18 years of age will be vaccinated. Employees working in situations of increased risk of infection will be vaccinated first.
By July, the Mongolian authorities plan to carry out a large-scale immunization of almost two million adult citizens of the 3.3 million population.
Four vaccines will be used for universal vaccination: Russian Sputnik V, Chinese Sinopharm, as well as drugs from Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
Earlier it became known that the vaccine of the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca was registered in Ukraine.
Deliveries of 2.2 to 3.7 million doses of vaccine are expected in the first-second quarter. The other day, the first batch of 500 thousand doses was shipped to the country from a manufacturer in India.
