Anti-racist protests continue in the United States, involving both ordinary citizens and their famous compatriots. Social networks have become a gathering place for Black Lives Matter rally participants and information sharing. 35-year-old Russian actress Maria Mashkova, who lives in the United States with her husband and children, watches what is happening in the country from the side, sharing observations on her Instagram.
I live between Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, where the last few days, in addition to peaceful protests, have been gathering (from different states, they say, states) to rob and smash stores. I constantly hear the sound of helicopters, and our grocery store was crammed with boards from looting. As a Russian girl, who happened to be the first time in America at the age of 23, I don’t understand much. Our protests are different from the local ones ... radically! Knowledge from textbooks is not enough. Yesterday I heard a monologue from the director of my children’s school (white, adult woman) about racism and what is happening outside the window. I was amazed at how openly and in an adult way they talk with children. The second day I am listening to the girls' lessons ... Now Fanina, a teacher, asked the children to speak up. I sit on the floor, listen to children, and much becomes simple and clear. Well, what is good and what is bad is also made obvious, - wrote Maria on social networks.

The actress and her husband, musician and businessman Alexander Slobodyanik, Jr., raise two daughters: ten-year-old Stefania and eight-year-old Alexandra.

Mashkova added the #blackouttuesday tag to her words on the net, bringing together many protesters against police brutality against African Americans. A wave of discontent rose after the death of 46-year-old black-skinned George Floyd, who died on May 25 at the time of detention by a policeman in Minneapolis.
