Maps, guns, “Bayraktar”. Will the conflict in Donbass flare up with renewed vigor?

On the morning of October 27, the Ukrainian authorities published footage taken from a Turkish-made Bayraktar drone, which is in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They filmed the moment a rocket hit a gun belonging to the army of the unrecognized DPR. Is this the beginning of a new war?

Drone attack

“So far, this is just a test of strength, – said in an exclusive interview for” AiF “ military expert, deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine “Arsenal of the Fatherland” Alexey Leonkov… – The fact is that Ukraine is going to purchase 62 Turkish Bayraktar drones in reconnaissance and reconnaissance-strike versions for its Ukrainian Armed Forces. But this is not enough: combat crews must be prepared for the drones. The video filming that we saw today took place in the area of the urban-type settlement Telmanovo on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic. There, judging by the maps, is a battery of Soviet-made 122-mm towed D-30 howitzers. It was for her that the calculation of the Ukrainian UAV worked. I suppose it was something like the final exam at the school for the use of unmanned aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Usually “Bayraktars” are delivered in sets of 6 pieces together with a control and communication complex. This is a combat vehicle with 3 operator stations. In this case, I believe, one of the camera positions was occupied by an instructor from Turkey, the other two were Ukrainian cadets. So there were 2 or even 3 Bayraktar in the air at the same time. One pointed, and the second hit the target, the third, if there was one, was lifted into the air “in reserve”.

I don’t know whether the Ukrainian operators passed their exam or failed, but they managed to hit one target. Although, to be honest, the result was “on the C”. The howitzer, apparently, survived, and the crew that fled after the explosion, as can be seen on the shooting, quickly returned to the gun.

In short, the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine already know how to hit the target, the rest is questions to the manufacturers of weapons for the Bayraktar. When they can both hit the target and destroy it, then the DPR and LPR should expect Ukraine’s attempts to repeat the victorious Azerbaijani scenario of last year in Karabakh. The Ukrainian Armed Forces already has a regiment armed with drones, there will be 2 regiments, or a brigade. “

Or is it a war?

By the way, on October 26, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, after a mortar shelling, attempted to seize the village of Staromaryevka in the same Telmanovsky district. The village is located on the contact line in the Donbass. According to some reports, the Armed Forces of Ukraine still hold the settlement for themselves.

The aggravation of the situation in Donbass began in early October, after Kiev detained a representative of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire.

Luhansk demanded the release of its officer Andrey Kosyak, but the Ukrainian side stated that he was conducting reconnaissance of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, that is, he was engaged in espionage under the guise of his status. Be that as it may, since then the dialogue between Kiev and Lugansk in the “Minsk format” has been suspended. And then there’s Bayraktar …
