President of the Russian Paralympic Committee Senator Vladimir Lukin and the organization’s vice-presidents, State Duma deputies Boris Ivanyuzhenkov, Rima Batalova and Oleg Smolin resigned.
Pavel Rozhkov was approved as the interim head of the RPC by members of the executive committee, reports TASS.
In addition, the deputy of the lower house of parliament Elena Bondarenko and the head of the department of physical culture and sports of the Bryansk region Sergey Trusov wrote applications for the resignation of the chairmen of the regional branches of the organization.
These decisions were made in accordance with the requirements of the Court of Arbitration for Sport in the case of WADA against the Russian Anti-Doping Agency. The court, in particular, banned Russian officials and parliamentarians from holding leading positions in any sports international federations.
Earlier, due to these sanctions, Vladislav Tretyak left the council of the International Ice Hockey Federation.
Recall that Vladimir Lukin served as President of the Russian Paralympic Committee since 1997.
