President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko proposed combining the referendum on changing the constitution with local elections, TASS reports.
The elections of deputies of the local Councils of the Republic of Belarus of the 29th convocation should take place no later than January 18 of next year.
Lukashenko noted that “the desire for change is absolutely correct,” saying that Belarus will move in this direction in an evolutionary way.
On the eve of the head of Belarus said that the draft of the new constitution of the republic will be ready during this year. At the beginning of 2022, it will be submitted for national discussion. Lukashenko promised to carry out constitutional reform in the country.
Earlier Lukashenka listed the conditions of his resignation. According to him, he will leave the post of head of the republic when peace comes to the country. The second prerequisite of the politician called the guaranteed security of his supporters in case people who hold different views come to power.
