President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko dismissed the ambassador of the republic to Latvia Vasily Markovich. According to RIA Novosti, the ambassador was also stripped of his diplomatic rank "for improper performance of official duties."
Markovich has represented Belarus in Lithuania since 2018, before that he headed the diplomatic mission in the Czech Republic.
It is also reported that Lukashenko stripped Pavel Latushko, who previously held the post of Belarusian ambassador to France, and Igor Leshchenya, who was the republic’s ambassador to Slovakia, of the diplomatic rank. Both diplomats are deprived of their status "in connection with the commission of acts that discredit the state (diplomatic) service."
Let us remind you that Leshchenya resigned in August. Before that, he made a video message in which he supported the protesters in Belarus.
In turn, Pavel Latushko, previously dismissed from the post of director of the Yanka Kupala Theater, became a member of the Coordination Council of the Belarusian opposition, and then left for Poland.
