A still from the TV series “Topi”.
The publication of personal data on the Internet has recently become a common practice to put pressure on certain people – political or ideological opponents. The victim of threats this time was the writer and screenwriter Dmitry Glukhovsky. The Cellar of Chechnya Telegram channel, which has more than 11,000 subscribers, published passport data, home address and telephone number, presumably belonging to Dmitry.
You, Dimasya, look around you, evil spirits,
– written in the message, which also contains a call to forward the post to other publics.
The reason for this attack was the TV series “Topi”, the script of which was written by Glukhovsky, or rather the image of the Chechen heroine.
I decided to hype and try to corrupt Chechen girls,
– characterize Glukhovsky in the telegram channel.
Discontent was caused by the storyline dedicated to the heroine named Elya. The series does not name her nationality, but it becomes clear as the action progresses. Elya runs away from her Chechen groom to the village of Topi; the series also touches on the theme of the Chechen wars.

Negative responses on this matter appeared on the network immediately after the release of the series.
You will still answer for the Chechen woman in this film, everything has its time!
You shouldn’t have hurt the honor of Chechen women. We are not patient!
– such comments from Glukhovsky’s instagram are given by the site “Caucasian Knot”.
His colleague, Chechen screenwriter and producer Amina Ozdamirova also criticized the scriptwriter, believing that Glukhovsky wrote out such an “immoral image” for the sake of hype.
Taking the most defiant possible image in which one can imagine a Chechen woman is a cheap trick. I condemn this series, but I’m not particularly worried: an immoral Chechen character leads to conclusions not about the moral character of the Chechens, but about the moral character of Glukhovsky,
– she said on her Instagram.
The actress Sofya Volodchinskaya, who played the role of Eli, also received negative comments and threats earlier.
Earlier, the head of the Union of Chechen Youth, Rustam Tapaev, suggested that the attack on the creators could be part of the series’ PR campaign.
It should be reminded that this is not the only incident associated with the portrayal of Chechens in films in recent days. For example, recently it was necessary to cancel the screening of the documentary film “Quiet Voice” about a Chechen gay who was forced to flee from his homeland to Brussels. The sessions were supposed to take place within the framework of the “Artdocfest”. The organizer of the festival, director Vitaly Mansky, also complained about threats from the Chechen side.
The Project’s investigation of the wives of Ramzan Kadyrov was also published today.
