Thus, the foreign minister of the country proposes to fight the illegal flow of migrants that goes to the EU countries from Iraq and the Middle East through Belarus. According to the minister, the European Union is obliged to take additional steps to resolve the situation.

“We are building a wall on the border with Belarus for 150 million euros and at the same time subsidizing the business of airlines that earn money from delivering migrants to Minsk,” Landsbergis said.

At the same time, he explained that it would be a broad sanction. Airlines that fly to Minsk cannot fly to the EU. According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the previous method of stopping flights proved to be difficult, as it was necessary to conduct a dialogue with each carrier separately.

Let’s remind that in Lithuania there is an increase in the flow of migrants who are detained at the border with Belarus. Vilnius accuses Minsk of the current situation. At the same time, the Belarusian border guards from time to time record the cruel treatment of refugees by the Lithuanian security forces.

Earlier in NewInform: German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that Brussels was thinking about introducing new sanctions against Belarus.
