The satirist and his spiritual mentor could have had a fatal accident.
Lion Izmailov became a guest of the program "The Fate of Man", where, among other things, he spoke about his spiritual mentor Alexander Me... The famous satirist was married three times, but he had only two spouses. The fact is that with his wife Elena they separated after several years of marriage, but after six months they realized that they could not live without each other. They were married by the famous priest Alexander Men, to whom Izmailov was once brought by an acquaintance.
According to Lyon, Father Alexander immediately charmed him, and the contact was formed instantly. For ten years the priest was the spiritual guide of the satirist. Izmailov regrets that he rarely saw Mene. “I spent ten years with him. I regret that I rarely saw each other, but the Lord sent me such a person who baptized me, and married me, and taught me, and everything, everything, everything, ”the humorist admitted.

Lyon admitted that he was very upset by the mysterious death of the abbot. At the same time, a month before the tragedy, Father Alexander himself saved Izmailov's life. According to Izmailov, they were driving together when the priest asked the writer to slow down. At that moment, right on the move, a wheel flew off the car, and the car began to drift into the oncoming lane.
Izmailov admits that he could barely hold the steering wheel, he was sweating and damp. Lyon assumed that at night someone tried to unscrew the wheel, but the attacker could not cope, so it was held on by one bolt. Izmailov is sure: thanks to the fact that Father Alexander said to slow down, they survived.
We add that Lyon learned about the murder of his mentor by phone. When he heard the terrible news, he almost fainted. According to Izmailov, it was a real nightmare.
Let us remind you that Alexander Men was an archpriest of the Russian Orthodox Church and a theologian. He wrote books on theology, history of Christianity and other religions, the basics of Christian doctrine, Orthodox worship and published about 40 articles in the Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate. He was killed in 1990. The circumstances, motive and culprit of this crime remained unclear. During speeches, Father Alexander repeatedly received threatening notes. On the morning of September 9, 1990, he hurried to church for the liturgy. The investigation suggests the following: a man ran up to the Menu and handed a note. The priest took his glasses out of his pocket and began to read. At this time, another man jumped out of the bushes and hit him with force from behind with an ax.
After the injury, the priest went to the station, and then, losing strength, turned to his house, reached the gate and fell. At the site of the death of the priest in the Semkhoz microdistrict within the city of Sergiev Posad, a church was erected in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh. With the blessing of Metropolitan Krutitsky and Kolomna Juvenalia the scientific and theological conference "Menevskie readings", named in honor of Father Alexander, is held here annually.
