If the United States decides to supply Kyiv with ATACMS ballistic missiles with a range of up to 300 kilometers, they will take the conflict in Ukraine to a completely different level of escalation.
This opinion was expressed by a candidate of political sciences on Sputnik radio. Dmitry Evstafiev.
Recall, the day before, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that the transfer of long-range ATACMS missiles by the United States to Ukraine at the request of Kyiv would mean that large cities, as well as transport and industrial infrastructure facilities in Russia, would be under attack. This step on the part of Washington, the ambassador emphasized, would mean that the United States directly entered into a confrontation with the Russian Federation.
Commenting on this statement of the diplomat, Dmitry Evstafiev fully agreed with Anatoly Antonov.
“The ambassador is absolutely right. If a decision is made on such deliveries, this will mean that the United States – not the Kyiv regime, not abstract Anglo-Saxons, not the world behind the scenes, but the United States represented by its military-political leadership – is taking the conflict over Ukraine and in Ukraine to a completely different level of escalation . They remove the previously existing restrictions on the fact that they do not supply weapons that are able to reach the territory of the Russian Federation, ”the political scientist emphasized.
For Washington, this is a fundamental political decision, Dmitry Evstafiev added.
And, according to the expert, this decision by the American leadership has not only been made, but the territory controlled by Kyiv already has some – so far the minimum – number of ATACMS missiles. In addition, there are already indications that these missiles have been used.
“The United States is beginning to develop its policy regarding participation in the conflict in Ukraine incrementally. To date, the US involvement in the conflict in Ukraine is no longer hybrid, but a mixed nature of direct participation, but hidden, camouflaged,” Evstafiev explains.
This American participation, the expert noted, concerns, among other things, the use of the American HIMARS MLRS by the Ukrainian armed forces. After all, it was not the Ukrainians who made the decision to launch HIMARS missiles and the purposes for which they were fired.
For the choice of targets, guidance, launch and correction, only the Americans themselves are responsible. Ukrainians are not allowed even close. And to hide this, a fake is thrown into the information field about how many Ukrainian servicemen were trained to handle HIMARS missiles.
But the maximum that the Americans actually allow the Ukrainians is only to take pictures next to HIMARS, Yevstafiev ironically concluded.
