“League of Warriors”. Which Russian fighters will perform in the new Bellator season

Absolutely all Russian MMA fans know that a legend of mixed martial arts performs at Bellator Fedor Emelianenko

But the “League of Warriors” (from Latin Bellator is translated as “warrior”) is interesting not only because of the name of the Last Emperor. There is a whole galaxy of Russian fighters here, many of whom claim the first roles.

Million Dollar Case

The main news of the last week related to Bellator is the Light Heavyweight Grand Prix, in which the champion’s title will be defended Vadim Nemkov

Nemkov will begin his journey on April 16 with a quarterfinal match with Phil Davis… The fighters already met in November 2018, and then Nemkov managed to gain the upper hand only by a split decision. And to this day, Davis remains the only one whom Vadim could not defeat early.

And if Nemkov succeeds, the winner of the superstar pair awaits Joel Romero – Anthony Johnson, which will converge in a cage also on April 16.

In the other half of the Grand Prix route, the ex-champion Ryan Bader will fight the Brazilian veteran Lyoto Machidoi, and the top American light heavy crust anderson will meet with audacious debutant Bellator from Turkmenistan Dovletjan Yagshimuradov (ex-champion of the Russian promotion ACA). Some of these four will be waiting for Vadim Nemkov in the final.

And the fact that Fedor Emelianenko’s student will get to the decisive battle is not in doubt even in the United States. It is Nemkov who is the favorite of the Grand Prix, according to American bookmakers.

In case of victory, Vadim Nemkov will rightfully be able to claim the status of the strongest light heavyweight in the world. The composition of the Grand Prix suggests that Bellator has outperformed even the UFC in this weight division.

By the way, this year Vadim Nemkov’s older brother should make his Bellator debut – Victor

Former M-1 Global champion has signed a contract with an American promotion, but does not yet know the date of his start. Bellator admits that Viktor Nemkov will not compete in his usual light heavyweight, but will rise to the heavy division.

But, perhaps, Nemkov Sr. will become a reserve fighter in the Light Heavyweight Grand Prix. Which also looks intriguing.

Potential Champion

On April 2, at the Bellator debut in 2021, the Bantamweight High Hope will perform – Magomed Magomedov

The fighter nicknamed “The Tiger” got off to a good start last year, defeating Mateus Mattos in a dominant style. Now the Dagestani is ready to continue his journey. Who exactly will become the rival is unknown, but Magomedov himself said that it would be an American fighter.

It is curious that the bantamweight title fight will take place on May 7. Reigning Bellator Champion Juan Archuleta will protect the belt from claims Sergio Pettisa

Perhaps Magomed Magomedov will face the winner of this fight in the future?

Younger brothers debut

At the tournament on April 2, the long-awaited debut of a cousin should also take place Khabib NurmagomedovaUsman Nurmagomedov

The name of the unbeaten lightweight’s opponent has not yet been announced, but it is unlikely that Usman’s opponent is of interest to anyone. The magic of the Nurmagomedov surname does its job – he is the favorite of the fight. Especially after the recent victory Umar Nurmagomedova in the debut match in the UFC, fans are waiting for the continuation of the success of the star family.

While Bellator was delaying the date of the first tournament, the fight map was replenished with another star junior. April 2nd in Connecticut will perform Hasan Magomedsharipov – the younger brother of the top UFC fighter Zabita Magomedsharipova

Like his brother, Hasan competes in the featherweight category. Before signing a contract with Bellator, 20-year-old Khasan Magomedariprov fought in Russian promotions, where he won a total of 5 victories without suffering a single defeat.

In Khasan Magomedsharipov, many see a potential star. The debut will show how justified the advances are.

Three girls

Not so long ago we introduced you to the “Red Queen” Darina Mazdyuk, whose Bellator debut is slated for this season.

First fight in the USA will be a serious test for Mazduk: Bellator a fundamentally new level compared to all tournaments where she performed earlier.

This year, another beautiful Russian warrior should also perform in the League of Warriors – Diana Avsagarova

Few people know, but this girl from North Ossetia signed a contract with Bellator back in 2019. However, due to the pandemic, her debut was constantly postponed.

Diana Avsagarova has only two fights in MMA behind her back, but Scott Cocker I saw something in her and offered a contract for 6 fights at once.

Considering how rapidly the female MMA segment is developing, such a spectacular girl may well attract the attention of the public. Who knows, maybe Cocker pulled out a goldfish.

An experienced sportswoman from Yekaterinburg is also expecting her debut at Bellator Irina Alekseev

Alekseeva has a solid background in sambo and judo, for which she received the nickname “Russian Ronda” – in honor of the former UFC champion Rondy Rosie… The only embarrassing thing is that in her last fight Alekseeva lost, having suffered the first defeat in her career.

However, now Irina will have the motivation to close the defeat.

Who else are we following?

This year, Valentin Moldavsky and Anatoly Tokov should finally get the title chances. Both Fedor Team fighters are on a 5-win streak and have long earned the opportunity to compete for the Bellator heavy and middleweight championship belts, respectively.

It is no less interesting to watch the debut in the “League of Warriors” of the student of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov Ruslana Khabilova… In the UFC, the talented fighter could not really reveal himself due to visa problems, in connection with which he almost did not play at tournaments in the United States.

Khabilov expects Bellator to pay more attention to this problem.

Let’s not forget that there are still two Russian veterans in Bellator Vitaly Minakov and Andrey Koreshkov… Former champions of the promotion are not going through the best stage in their careers and have never entered the cage in 2020.

But can they still fire the Bellator? For sure. The whole question is what role Scott Cocker has in store for them. So far, there have been no announcements of the fight between Minakov and Koreshkov.
