Lawyers representing the interests of the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych intend to appeal in local courts against his involvement in the Maidan in 2014, TASS reports.
We will remind, in Ukraine Yanukovych is accused of the death of people on Independence Square in Kiev in February 2014. Then, during the rally, unknown persons opened fire on protesters and law enforcement officers. More than 50 people became victims of the incident. Over the next few days, over a hundred more people died.
The events on the “Maidan” began to develop after the announcement of the suspension of the signing of an agreement between Ukraine and the European Union in November 2013. A months-long rally began on Independence Square in the Ukrainian capital.
In turn, lawyers believe that the decision of the Verkhovna Rada on the coup d’etat and Yanukovych’s involvement in these events is unconstitutional.
In addition, if necessary, the decision will be appealed to the European Court of Human Rights, the defense stressed.
