NATO artificially lures Ukraine and the Scandinavian countries into its ranks, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov believes. About it writes RIA Novosti.
At the same time, according to the minister, the existence of NATO after the Cold War and the disappearance of the Warsaw Pact has lost its meaning, but attempts to artificially prolong the functioning of the alliance continue.
Lavrov called “unacceptable and flawed” NATO’s one-sided interpretation of its political obligations on non-expansion.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also noted that Western countries contribute to the negative development of events, and the conflict potential is accumulating in the world.
According to the minister, representatives of Western countries undermine international relations and replace international law with their own rules.
The day before, Lavrov said that US demands that Russia return its troops stationed on its own territory to the barracks are unacceptable.
