Russia hopes that all the remaining technical issues for the start of construction of the Pakistan Stream gas pipeline will be agreed in the near future. About this in an interview with a Pakistani newspaper News International was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who arrived on a working visit to Islamabad.
He called this project a flagship in the energy sector and stressed that the Russian side is making every effort to start its implementation.
Lavrov also noted that Russian companies are ready to participate in the modernization of Pakistan’s energy sector and its railway system.
Earlier it was reported that the North-South project changed its name to Pakistan Stream. In addition, the composition of its shareholders has changed.
Recall the agreement on the construction of a gas pipeline of the governments of the two countries signed in the fall of 2015. The length of the pipeline should be about 1.1 thousand km, and the capacity – 12.4 billion cubic meters of gas per year. It was planned that the facility would be commissioned by 2018, but these dates were postponed several times.
