Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Abdollahian the situation with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program, according to the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
It is specified that the telephone conversation of the ministers took place on October 14 at the initiative of the Iranian side.
Lavrov and Abdollahian believe that restoring the nuclear deal in its original configuration is the only correct way to ensure the interests of all parties. The ministers expressed their hope for an early resumption of consultations on the JCPOA in Vienna.
Earlier, Acting Assistant Secretary of State Joey Hood said that Iran needs to act quickly if it wants to resume negotiations on the JCPOA.
We add that in early October, Lavrov discussed by phone the prospects of the Iranian nuclear program with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
