Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced Russia’s readiness to discuss the accumulated problems with the European Union if the EU decides to restore cooperation with the Russian Federation, reports TASS, referring to the speech of the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry at a meeting with his Finnish counterpart Pekka Haavisto.
Lavrov stressed that “the framework of these relations was deliberately destroyed at the initiative of Brussels.”
In particular, the head of the Russian foreign policy department drew attention to the “connivance” of the EU in relation to the “attacks” on the Russian language and Russian culture in the Baltic States and Ukraine.
Lavrov noted that Russia still has many like-minded people in Europe, with whom Moscow will continue mutually beneficial relations.
“Don’t confuse the European Union with Europe. We are not leaving Europe anywhere “, – quotes his words RIA News.
Recall that earlier Haavisto declared the importance of maintaining diplomatic relations and dialogue with Russia. In his opinion, the European Union and the Russian Federation need to continue communication in all situations, including on extremely difficult topics, as Helsinki and Moscow do.
