Lavrov called the “red line” the emergence of US bases in the Sea of Azov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, commenting on the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO, said that the emergence of an alliance on Russian borders is categorically unacceptable for Moscow, this is a real “red line”. About it writes RIA Novosti.

At the same time, according to the minister, even if Ukraine remains outside NATO, there is a possibility of agreements with those Western countries that create military facilities and bases in the Sea of Azov.

The deployment of strike weapons on the territory of Ukraine and other neighbors of Russia poses a threat to the Russian Federation and is a “red line” for it, Lavrov stressed.

Earlier, Lavrov said that in the coming months, NATO could begin to build up forces near the Russian Federation under the pretext of the situation in Ukraine.
