Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called on the world community to provide economic assistance to Kabul, the purpose of which will be to prevent a humanitarian crisis and stop migration flows. This became known during the Moscow format meeting on Afghanistan.
During his speech, the minister noted that the change of power in Afghanistan is a fait accompli. At the same time, Russia noted the efforts of the Taliban (the organization is banned in the Russian Federation) to stabilize the situation in the country. Moscow is satisfied with the current level of interaction with the Taliban.
“Now, after a radical change in the situation on earth, it is already pointless to look for those to blame for the fact that it was not possible to achieve a tangible result in the matter of national reconciliation,” RIA Novosti quotes Lavrov.
At the same time, the minister expressed concern about the threat of the spread of terrorism and drug trafficking outside Afghanistan.
Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with a delegation from Afghanistan is being held in Moscow in a closed format. Representatives of ten countries are also taking part in the consultations. The United States declined the invitation, but clarified that in the future the American side will be able to join the meetings.
