During a telephone conversation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and EU diplomat Josep Borrell discussed a number of topical international topics, including the settlement in Nagorno-Karabakh in accordance with the Moscow statement of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia, as well as the situation around Belarus, the website reports. It is noted that the Russian side stressed that whipping up anti-Russian sentiments in the EU, creating new irritants in relations with Russia under far-fetched pretexts does not meet the goals of stabilizing the situation in Europe.
"It was noted that these relations can be based solely on equality and mutual respect of interests, for which some countries, setting the tone in the European Union, need to abandon attempts to conduct business from the standpoint of their own superiority and admit that there is no alternative to an honest dialogue with facts in the hands of a dialogue," in the Russian diplomatic service.
Also during the conversation, Borrell spoke about the results of the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on October 12. The conversation took place at the initiative of the European Union.
Earlier, Lavrov discussed the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh by phone with the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia Jeyhun Bayramov and Zohrab Mnatsakanyan. It was noted that the parties declared their commitment to the agreements reached earlier on a ceasefire in the conflict zone. They also stressed "the need for its strict observance on earth."
