Lavrov allowed production of Indian vaccine against COVID-19 in Russia

In Russia, the production of the Indian vaccine against coronavirus Covaxin may begin. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov following the talks with the Indian Foreign Minister.

However, Lavrov noted that specialists should discuss this issue and proceed from the maximum efficiency of this kind of interaction, RIA Novosti reports.

The day before, the Indian media reported that the Indian authorities would issue permission for the emergency use of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine within 10 days.

Now in this country, the use of two vaccines against COVID-19 is allowed: the domestic Covaxin and the local version of the drug from AstraZeneca called Covieshield.

At the end of March, a new strain of coronavirus was discovered in India, which has a double mutation that helps it to fix on human cells.
