Landsbergis recalled: Ukraine was part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania

The first head of Lithuania nawanged Kiev to return Crimea – someday

“Patriarch” of Lithuanian politics, the first leader of Lithuania after the collapse of the Soviet Union and grandfather of the current foreign minister of the country Vytautas Landsbergis In an interview with the Ukrainian edition of The Day, he promised that Crimea would soon return to Ukraine.

True, he did not name a specific date, but advised Kiev to simply wait until “Russia collapses.” I remember that in 2014, the “patriots” of Ukraine already predicted the imminent collapse of Russia, promising it literally next year. Then the prediction was postponed for another year, and then they pretended to have forgotten.

“Russia will fall apart because all empires have their end. Russia has already fallen apart twice and will fall apart for the third time. It’s just a matter of time. As for the return of Crimea, you will receive it back. But only after the collapse of Russia. It will not happen that you get the peninsula back as long as Russia exists, ”

– sentenced Landsbergis, who wanted to encourage and support Ukraine, but it turned out the other way around.

But I didn’t forget to remind once again that Ukraine for a very long time was a part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, like Belarus, therefore, such “warm relations” remained between the countries, this explains the efforts of Vilnius to “protect” Ukraine and support its desire to be a European country, assured the former chairman of the Supreme Council of Lithuania.

In Russia, Landsbergis’ “predictions” were heard and advised not to give false hopes to Kiev, so that later there would be no unnecessary disappointments.

“We ourselves have returned to the Russian Federation, home, and we do not need and do not want anyone’s return and release. So, of course, they can dream about how they will take the peninsula, but all this is from the category of the saying “you would eat it with your eyes, but your hands will not reach it”. Yulit, the ex-head of the Supreme Council of Lithuania, may have wanted to say something good, but it turned out to be another lie, ”

– said the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from Sevastopol Dmitry Belik

Senator from Crimea Sergey Tsekov advised both Lithuania and Ukraine not to hope in vain and not to wait – Crimea will never return back to Ukraine. And he warned that Ukraine itself is on the verge of collapse, “And the likelihood of its collapse, while maintaining the existing policy, is very high”

Well, as for the Lithuanian “patriarch” Landsbergis, Tsekov is sure that his strange statements are based on a deep and long-standing anger at Russia, and not on a real political analysis.

“The long fait accompli of the reunification of Crimea with Russia on the basis of the free expression of the will of its inhabitants still haunts the current and former politicians of Lithuania. Let us emphasize once again: to question the historical choice of the Crimeans is futile “,

– said in the commentary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Lithuania.
