Another scientific study seriously scared some men.
It turns out that a low-fat diet, which is actively promoted by doctors, lowers the level of the male hormone testosterone, which causes a number of serious threats to their health.
British researchers shocked the male population with their findings on how low testosterone levels lead to cardiovascular disease, diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. The University of Worcester found a 10-15% drop in testosterone in samples taken from men on a low-fat diet. Even more – by 26% – it decreased among the supporters of vegetarian diets. It turns out that eating a healthy diet based on fruits and vegetables can be a disaster for men’s health. Experts insist on including the fats found in meat and dairy products in the diet. Testosterone levels are also increased by monounsaturated fats found in olive oil, avocados and nuts.
Of particular concern is the health of European men, in whom the greatest drop in testosterone levels, which provides a number of vital functions, is recorded. Scientists recommend that men check their testosterone levels just in case and, if they are low, avoid low-fat foods so as not to aggravate the situation. Normal testosterone levels provide a reduction in chronic disease and mortality.
In recent years, high-fat diets have shown the ability to lower blood pressure and increase good cholesterol. Many American researchers and nutritionists believe that saturated fat is not the main cause of heart disease, although official guidelines call for limiting consumption.
