SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming and Secretary General of the CSTO Stanislav Zas called for peace in Central Asia. Zhang Ming also expressed his condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, civilians and the injured.

Stanislav Zas declared the unacceptability of the use of force and the use of heavy weapons, including artillery and MLRS, stressed that the conflict should be resolved only peacefully, noted that what is happening causes serious concern.

However, the Collective Security Treaty Organization has not yet taken any steps to resolve the military situation.

On September 18, telephone conversations with the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan were held Vladimir Putin. “Vladimir Putin called on the parties to prevent further escalation and take measures to resolve the situation as soon as possible by exclusively peaceful, political and diplomatic means. He reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to provide the necessary assistance in order to ensure stability in the Kyrgyz-Tajik border area. The parties agreed to continue contacts.”, the message says. These are the first negotiations with the leaders of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan after the military aggravation on the border.

On the afternoon of September 18, the head of the public security service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Nurlan Ismailov said that law enforcement officers of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan began joint patrolling of the section of the road between the two Tajik cities of Khujand and Kanibadam, which runs along the border of the two countries.
