The head of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, Konstantin Kosachev, spoke about the events in Washington, which, in his opinion, showed that “American democracy is limping on both feet.” He wrote about this on Facebook.
“The holiday of democracy is over. This, alas, is actually the bottom, I say this without a shadow of gloating. America no longer charts the course, and therefore has lost all right to set it. And even more so to impose on others, ”the senator’s post says.
The senator accused the incumbent US President Donald Trump of “narcissism, eccentricity and adventurism.”
Yesterday, supporters of Trump, demonstrating in Washington in support of him, broke into the Congress building, where a meeting was taking place at which they were supposed to approve the election results.
The police used tear gas and stun grenades against the protesters. As a result of the assault, four people were killed.
Washington has extended the emergency regime until the inauguration of the new president.
