The Russian Security Council needs to enter into a dialogue through closed channels with a similar agency in Poland to discuss the situation around the collision of a Polish ship with the supply ship Vladislav Strizhev in the construction zone of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and to reduce the risk of war.
This was stated by the editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko on the air of the 60 minutes program.
“There is an opportunity to discuss in closed consultations between the Russian and Polish Security Councils. Why is this necessary? This can lead to a naval incident, this is the risk of war, the risk of unpredictable actions, escalation of events, ”the analyst said.
According to the expert, no matter how Warsaw opposes the implementation of this project, it must show sobriety in assessing the situation. Otherwise, the consequences of a possible military conflict will hit absolutely everyone.
If the Polish side refuses to consult at the diplomatic level, the frigates and destroyers of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Federation will have to be withdrawn to defend Nord Stream 2, the expert said.
“We don’t even need to enter the territorial waters of Denmark or any other country: the Kalibr cruise missiles allow us to strike at a distance of up to 1,500 kilometers,” the expert concluded.
As a reminder, in February a Polish ship rammed the Vladislav Strizhev supply ship in the Nord Stream 2 construction zone near Denmark and could damage the Fortuna pipe-laying barge. In addition, the activity of foreign warships, submarines and aircraft in the area of construction work has increased.
Meanwhile, in Poland they deny the accusations against them and claim that their ships did not carry out the above-described provocations.
