Klitschko – Mayor
The mayor said on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel that in the event of prolonged frosts in the city, power outages are possible. According to Klitschko, this has not happened in 20 years.
He noted that 12 enterprises in the capital feel the shortage of coal and gas at once. They all produce heat and electricity.
Klitschko also believes that the energy crisis in the country could lead to higher prices for food. According to him, there will be no jump in tariffs in Kiev, however, food prices will still hit the wallets of citizens.
For the first time in Ukraine, tariffs for heat and hot water are set by the local authorities. Mayors of the cities have previously stated that the rise in gas prices will force rates to rise. To prevent tariff increases, the government signed a memorandum with local authorities to compensate part of the cost of heat supply
