Georgian artist Vakhtang Kikabidze said that he asked the leader of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to help ex-President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili.
In an interview with journalist Dmitry Gordon, Kikabidze suggested that the Georgian authorities do not want Saakashvili to be released from prison.
“I’ve specially flew (to Kiev – ed.) To ask you (the president) to somehow save your citizen,” said the artist.
The former president of Georgia, who has Ukrainian citizenship, was detained at home on October 1. After the arrest, Saakashvili went on a hunger strike. On the eve it became known that he decided to stop starving.
Rallies in support of the politician are being held in Tbilisi. Zelensky said on Friday that he had asked Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili to allow his mother, relatives and Ukrainian doctors to see Saakashvili.
