Ukraine is ready to expel a Russian diplomat named Chernikov as a response to Russia’s decision to expel the consul, said Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Yenin.
According to the deputy minister, the authorities want to expel a senior diplomat from the country – one of the advisers to the Russian embassy in Kiev. His surname is Chernikov. The corresponding note will be sent to the Russian embassy.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that the diplomat must leave the country within 72 hours starting April 19, this is a response to the detention of the consul in St. Petersburg.
Earlier in the Czech Republic it was decided to expel 18 employees of the diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation.
