Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Aleksey Reznikov commented on the possibility of a repetition in the Donbass of a situation similar to the tragedy in Bosnian Srebrenica, RIA Novosti reports.
During the TV interview, Reznikov said that Kiev has no plan for the forcible liberation of territories in Donbass and insists on a political and diplomatic solution to the conflict.
“To say that today in Ukraine we are afraid of Srebrenitsa, we are not afraid of it, we cannot allow ourselves to do this,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
In his opinion, the settlement of the conflict in the south-east of Ukraine should be dealt with within the framework of the “Normandy format” and the trilateral contact group in Minsk.
We will remind that earlier the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that in the event of the outbreak of hostilities in the Donbass and the repetition of a catastrophe similar to Srebrenica, no country in the world, including Russia, will stand aside.
At the same time, the head of the self-proclaimed DPR Denis Pushilin expressed the opinion that Ukraine is ready to start full-scale military actions on the line of contact.
