The head of the Ukrainian GTS Operator, Serhiy Makogon, spoke about the “great chances” to prevent the launch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline at its full capacity, RIA Novosti reports.
“I believe that there is still a very good chance of preventing the pipeline from starting at full capacity,” Makogon said and added that the Ukrainian side “has a vision of how to fight further.”
In addition, he expressed the opinion that this year “gas transit has decreased three times.” Therefore, according to Makogon, the Russian side “returned to the contracted volumes.”
Earlier, Germany suspended the certification process for Nord Stream 2. This is due to German legislation, which obliges Nord Stream 2 AG to establish a German subsidiary. Details – in the material AiF.ru.
The SP-2 project provides for the laying of two lines of a gas pipeline from the coast of the Russian Federation through the Baltic Sea to the Federal Republic of Germany. The first string of the pipeline is already filled with technical gas. The United States, Poland and Ukraine are actively opposed to the emergence of the gas pipeline.
