Kanat Isaev was elected speaker of the Kyrgyz parliament. He was the only candidate nominated for this position, he was elected during an extraordinary meeting of deputies, reports TASS.
Isaev is the leader of the Kyrgyzstan parliamentary faction. The former speaker of parliament, Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, resigned on October 6 after riots broke out in the republic. His post was taken by the representative of the Bir Bol party, Myktybek Abdyldaev, however, he soon announced his resignation.
Earlier, the Kyrgyz parliament approved a new government, which will be headed by Sadyr Japarov. However, today the President of the country Sooronbai Jeenbekov recognized this decision as illegal, since the quorum was not provided.
