A significant part of the artillery pieces supplied to Ukraine from the West was lost as a result of poor maintenance. This was announced by the editor of The Economist Shashank Joshi.
According to him, as a result of poor maintenance, Western howitzers quickly become unusable, which is why the Armed Forces of Ukraine are forced to send them to Poland for repairs.
“On the one hand, Ukraine is absorbing Western equipment much faster than some expected. But it’s not without problems,” Joshi said.
It should be noted that with the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, the United States and its NATO allies significantly expanded arms supplies to Ukraine. Kyiv receives from the West, including heavy weapons and armored vehicles.
