If you suffer from arthritis, you probably often spent sleepless nights due to pain. This is a common complaint that can make you feel really bad.

First of all, we need to get something clear: there is no 100% effective cure for arthritis pain. There are effective treatments to relieve joint pain and improve quality of life, according to the Arthritis Foundation, but the pain is irreversibly coming back.

1. Why does joint pain get worse at night?

daily activities

During the day you move, you pack, you climb stairs, you are on the move…

All this activity warms up the joints, and although you may feel some pain, it becomes more pronounced at night when you are not moving.

If most of your day is filled with tension, worry, anxiety, and stress that you can’t deal with in a healthy way, all of this will increase your cortisol levels in your blood.

Compounds in some of the foods we eat every day have been found to not only cause inflammation but also contribute to the accumulation of toxins in the body.

Eating an unhealthy diet can increase pain and inflammation.

Passive lifestyle

If you spend all day on the couch, it is likely that the pain will get worse as night falls.

Why? When the joints are immobile, stiffness and stiffness occur. If you do simple stretching exercises in the morning and evening, you will minimize the pain. It’s worth it!

Joint Pain Relief Tips

1. Nutrition

Although there can be many causes of arthritis, one of the main ways to improve the quality of life is through nutrition.

The right diet will allow you to restore cartilage, nourish bones and avoid inflammation.

Simple remedies like drinking ginger tea daily or choosing fruits and fresh foods over pre-cooked ones are small but effective habits you can put into practice.

Most recommended products:

  • Fish. It contains omega-3 fatty acids, which help maintain normal cholesterol levels.
  • Extra virgin olive oil. It contains antioxidants and has excellent anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Tomatoes, carrots and peppers. They contain lycopene, which is full of antioxidants.
  • Artichokes. Help delay aging.
  • Lemons and other citrus fruits. These fruits strengthen the immune system due to their vitamin C content.
  • A pineapple. It contains bromelain, which improves blood circulation.
  • Whole grain cereals. They are essential for a balanced diet.

2. Heat and cold therapy

According to a study conducted by the American University (Chile), in order to avoid nighttime joint pain, cryotherapy is recommended an hour before bedtime – a special interval therapy with heat and cold:

  1. Prepare a bag of ice cubes.
  2. Fill a container with hot water (not boiling water so you don’t burn your skin) with 3 sprigs of rosemary.
  3. Apply an ice pack to the affected joint for 20 seconds.
  4. Then immerse the joint in hot water.
  5. Repeat these steps 5 times and the pain will be relieved.

3. The best natural pain reliever

Tea with ginger

  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger;
  • glass of water;
  • 1 tablespoon honey.

Boil water and add ginger. Let simmer for 15 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool. Add honey. Drink 2 times a day: at breakfast and before bed.

4. Small stretches before bed

If you exercise the affected joints carefully, both the cartilage and the joint itself will become less stiff and tight.

One effective way to relieve joint pain is to knit if arthritis affects your hands and fingers, or you can stretch both legs if your knees are bothering you.

You can put a small weight on your ankles and lift each leg 5 times. You will notice relief.

These remedies won’t get rid of your arthritis completely, but they can help relieve it. However, the first step is always to consult a doctor and follow his recommendations.
