Japan’s new ruling party leader plans to continue Abe’s course

The new head of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, Yoshihide Suga, announced his intention to "inherit and develop" the political course of his predecessor in this post, Shinzo Abe. His performance was broadcast by NHK TV channel.

377 people voted for Yoshihide Suga, while his rivals, former Defense Minister Shigeru Ishiba and former Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida, received 68 and 69 votes, respectively.

We will remind, the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe announced his decision to resign for health reasons. Abe said he regretted not being able to fulfill some of his government's key tasks, including concluding a peace treaty with Russia.
