IVF procedure was compared to fascist practices

The priests compared IVF to a pseudoscientific method popular with the Nazis. “This is a direct path to eugenics, practiced in Nazi Germany and convicted at the Nuremberg trials,” – emphasized in the Church-Public Council on Biomedical Ethics.

The legalization of in vitro fertilization (IVF) techniques is a direct path to eugenics, which was practiced in Nazi Germany. This opinion was expressed by members of the Church-Public Council on Biomedical Ethics.

The reason for the statement was the publication on the website of the Russian Orthodox Church of a document entitled “Ethical problems associated with the method of in vitro fertilization.” It attempts to prove the admissibility of some IVF methods.

However, the Church-Public Council on Biomedical Ethics believes that there is an attempt to substitute concepts. It is noted that IVF is not a “fertility treatment”. The procedure actually represents “a new form of human reproduction,” the Council points out.

This is a direct path to eugenics, practiced in Nazi Germany and convicted at the Nuremberg trials,

– underlined in the statement.

Recall that IVF, like surrogacy, raises many complex ethical questions. And the rapid commercialization of the process further calls into question the legality of these procedures.
