The head of the German-Russian Forum and former Prime Minister of the federal state of Brandenburg Matthias Platzeck turned to the West against the background of the policy pursued in recent years. “It seems that Russia is simply tired …”, – he noted.
According to Platztek, the unconstructive Western policies have already tired patient Russia.
“It seems that Russia is simply tired of us and our eternal reproaches, as well as of the world of double standards,” he said in an interview with the Berliner Zeitung.
He noted that the countries of the West in political terms endlessly “shake their fingers at Russia”, “because, as it seems to us, we all know better than she, because the world should be organized only in the way we think is necessary.” Speaking about this, he recalled the speech of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the November forum “Potsdam Meetings”. Then the Russian diplomat noted the strengthening of the policy of containing Russia on the part of Germany, as well as the degradation of relations between the EU and Moscow. At the same time, Lavrov stressed that Russia is still interested in restoring mutually respectful relations with Germany.
Summing up, Plaztek noted that, while promoting the correct values, the West would not hurt to adhere to them in reality, and not only in accusatory speeches against Russia.
