For 11 million rubles, the lawyer promised the artist to achieve the lightest punishment.
Despite the fact that the verdict in the high-profile case of Mikhail Efremov, in a state of alcoholic and drug intoxication, committed an accident with a fatal outcome, was passed on September 8, the passions around him do not subside. The 56-year-old actor was given eight years in a general regime penal colony. Immediately after the verdict was announced, Mikhail Olegovich was handcuffed and taken to a pre-trial detention center, where he is now undergoing quarantine, which is mandatory in the face of the threat of coronavirus infection.

It became known last Wednesday that Mikhail Efremov refused the services of his lawyer Elman Pashayev. The artist said that he was not happy with the harsh sentence assigned to him. Mikhail Olegovich believes that Pashayev really "framed" him, choosing a rather outlandish line of defense, so the lawyer will no longer represent his interests on the appeal. On Thursday, there were reports in the media that the Ministry of Justice of Russia announced that it was proposing to terminate the status of Pashayev's lawyer and initiate disciplinary proceedings against the lawyer of the injured party, Alexander Dobrovinsky.
The night before, information also appeared that lawyer Elman Pashayev himself imposed his services on Efremov, promising him to obtain a mild punishment for an accident for 11 million rubles. “Later it turned out that no one offered Pashayev, but he imposed himself on himself, referring to common acquaintances. Pashayev estimated his work at 11 million rubles. He received his fee even before the start of the trial, that is, at the stage of preliminary investigation of the accident case, ”a source surrounded by the actor told the TASS journalist.
Earlier, a source said that Pashayev had promised Efremov to provide a lenient sentence. For example, a sentence not related to imprisonment or a colony-settlement with the possibility of being released on parole. By the way, Pashayev himself has a completely different point of view on this matter. On September 10, during a live broadcast on one of the TV channels, he said that he worked for the artist for free. The lawyer said that he initially refused the money that the artist's family offered him.
According to Pashayev, he had a goal to work for the result, and at that time Mikhail Olegovich admitted his guilt in the death of Sergei Zakharov. As the human rights activist said, in this situation, Efremov could hire any lawyer, paying him only $ 500 - the process would be quick and no lengthy proceedings would be required. And even when Pashayev began to study the initial materials of the artist's case, he did not want to discuss the issues of the fee.

“I work for results. I cannot take that kind of money from you, despite the fact that I see no results. Seven or eight years - I see. But if you withstand the appeal, I will ruin this case in the cassation court, ”Elman Pashayev recalled his conversation with Efremov and his wife, which took place shortly after the fatal accident involving the artist on June 8. He also clarified that in three months he and his colleague Ekaterina Shargorodskaya worked without a fee, while paying for the work of their employees.
We will remind, on June 8, Mikhail Efremov provoked a fatal accident in the center of Moscow. That evening, the Honored Artist of Russia got behind the wheel of his car in a state of alcohol and drug intoxication. On Smolensk Square, the actor jumped into the oncoming lane and crashed into the van of the 57-year-old courier from Ryazan, Sergei Zakharov. Efremov himself was not injured, but the second driver died from his injuries the next day after the accident.
