Iranian authorities have named the name of a suspect in sabotage at a nuclear facility – it is 43-year-old Reza Kadimi, IRIB broadcasting corporation reported.
RIA Novosti, citing local media, clarifies that the suspect had previously worked at a nuclear facility in Natanz. The attacker managed to escape abroad after the security service found out about him. Now the Iranian authorities are taking measures to detain and return the suspect to the country.
It is also noted that the explosion, which occurred as a result of the detonation of the device carried inside, partially damaged the power supply system of the centrifuges. No information about a cyber attack has been reported.
An accident in the electricity distribution network at the Natanz nuclear facility occurred on 11 April. The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran reported that there was a powerful explosion at the facility.
The Iranian authorities qualified the incident as a terrorist attack. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic accused Israel of involvement in the explosion.
